Bad Bitches : Evergreen State College, Long Beach Zine Fest and Chicago Zine Fest, 2013
”Bad Bitches is a workshop intended to empower women, trans and queer people of color. We are here to share our experiences in a real way that honors our survival skills, strengths, weaknesses, and cultural bad-assery while connecting, collaborating, and conversing on our struggles within white dominated, radical, leftist, feminist movements. Bad Bitches seeks to create a movement based on resisting assimilation within leftist culture and mainstream culture. Bad Bitches deconstructs feminism and the lack of intersectionality within the movement. Bad Bitches resists our historical erasure and highlights our history and values our personhood. Bad Bitches rewrites radical collective history, together, to reflect the truth of our existence and resistance. Bad Bitches is a non-academic environment that reaches out to people in real accessible ways. Bad Bitches seeks to push our boundaries and our comfort levels. We don’t use safe space, we use the danger zone, as in it is dangerous to act a fool. We are not here to teach but to facilitate an environment where we can learn from one another, where we do not fear one another but respect one another and our individual bold, tough, and fierce survival skills. This workshop is a round table discussion for women, trans and queer people of color with activities aimed at conversation expressing anger, laughter, intuition, and emotion. We will be brainstorming together for future projects, making a manifesto, and making lists on what Bad Bitches is and should be.”
People of Color Caucus @ Olympia Zine Fest, 2015
