On August 4th, 1977, following an anti-eviction campaign that lasted nine years, the tenants of the International Hotel were evicted and forcibly removed from their home. Over 400 riot police were deployed in the 3:00 AM eviction raid and a 3,000 person human barricade was brutally cleared away by authorities before tenants were physically removed from the premises.
